Privacy Policy

Flint Mail ("Flint") is an email app for iPhone made by Jason Crane. Flint is built so that your email stays yours: the app has no mail servers, and your messages are never sent to us or to anyone else.

What Flint stores, and where

• Your email — messages, attachments, and contacts you interact with are downloaded directly from your mail provider (such as Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, or iCloud Mail) to your device, and stored only on your device.
• Your credentials — sign-in tokens and app passwords are stored in your device's Keychain. They are sent only to your own mail provider to sign you in, never to us. Flint has no account system of its own.
• Settings — preferences (such as appearance and blocked senders) are stored on your device.

What leaves your device

• Mail protocol traffic — Flint talks directly to your mail provider over encrypted connections (their official APIs, or IMAP/SMTP over TLS) to read and send your mail.
• New-mail notifications — for providers that support push (Gmail and Outlook), a small relay service operated for Flint passes "something changed" signals from your provider to Apple's notification service. This relay stores only the pairing between an email address and a device notification token. It never receives, stores, or can read the content of any message. Accounts connected over IMAP (Yahoo, AOL, iCloud, and others) are never registered with the relay; they check for mail directly from your device.
• Sender images — to show company logos and pictures inside emails, Flint fetches images from the sender's own servers, then caches them on your device.

What Flint does not do

• No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
• No selling, sharing, or mining of your data — we never possess it in the first place.
• No server-side copies of your mailbox or credentials.

Deleting your data

Removing an account inside Flint deletes its locally stored mail and credentials from your device. Deleting the app removes everything Flint stored. Because Flint keeps no server-side data about you, there is nothing further to delete on our end.

Your mail provider

Your use of Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, or iCloud Mail remains governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy. Flint accesses your mailbox only after you sign in and authorize it, and you can revoke that access at any time in your provider's security settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
